Mustard Seed Wood Transformations is owned and operated by Ouray Chastain in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
Ouray specializes in portable sawmilling, live edge wood, and custom lumber, including storm-damaged and urban trees that many mills won’t touch. Once the milling is complete, he also offers unique wood finishing options, like fractal wood burning.
As a proud member of the Urban Wood Network, Ouray believes in sustainability and craftsmanship. He is passionate about transforming fallen or forgotten logs into meaningful, usable lumber.
“He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
The name Mustard Seed comes from a faith that God can open any door; make any opportunity realized.
In 2022, Ouray purchased his Norwood mill with one goal: To build a home for his family. Like that first mustard seed, what started as a personal project grew into something far greater. Today, Mustard Seed is a business rooted in faith, hard work, and the idea that every tree has a second life waiting to be revealed.
